DEMOCRATIC PRECINCT ORGANIZATION STIRS EXCITEMENT

Party Chairman Jim Morgan asserted that the New Hanover County precinct organization was spurred by "the excitement about the most important presidential election in decades."  The precincts organized throughout the county beginning March 11 "because this is the most direct way a Democrat can be involved in the process."

The precincts are the foundation for selecting delegates to the Democratic County Convention April 19th at City Hall.  In turn the convention will elect delegates to attend the national convention in Denver this August.

There was a great deal of excitement in precincts that had not organized in the past, Morgan reported.

Morgan explained the precinct organized in reaction to the remapping of the boundaries that was ordered by the New Hanover County Board of Elections.  This was done in an attempt to achieve a balance of population in each precinct.
